We are not allowed to answer questions about Apple#s motives in these user to user forums.

Just a historical reminder. The first iPods and other mobile devices did not need a password. Apple introduced the passwords, when the App Store came to the mobile devices and turned them into a shopping mall, and we could directly spend our money on the iPhone, iPod etc. It has been necessary to protect our money, but equally important to protect our personal data, that could be syncing with iCloud between all or device, our Health data, our last income tax statement, our private photos and many more.

As the devices are so expensive, the added security of the activation Lock, that only the owner can unlock with the AppleID password, is turning stolen devices into a useless brick.

You have asked in the Apple Vision Pro forum. Does your question have anything to do with Apple Vision Pro?
