turn off sections in Reminders

Everyone in my family largely finds the sections in Reminders to my fairly useless:

1. They take up too much vertical space.
2. We already know where things are in the grocery stores we frequent, and sometimes they are not in the same sections as Apple thinks and in some cases different stores have them in different sections — so customization is not the answer.

I have found no way to do this in poking around on both my iPhone and my MacBook. Any help here would be great.

FTR, I'm tagging this as an accessibility issue because the visual clutter, and inability to manage it, does make it difficult for people with vision issues and because you can't tag #Reminders. Pbbbt, Apple.
