Unable to update my iPhone SE to iOS 17.6

You can only update a first-generation iPhone SE as far as the latest release of iOS 15. That phone cannot run iOS 16 or higher.

A second- or third-generation iPhone SE should be able to run iOS 17 (now) or iOS 18 (when it comes out).

This iphone has 10gb free storage

12 GB is about the minimum you can get by with these days, no matter what the "size" of the update might be.

Try updating using a Mac or PC. That will require less space since temporary files are stored on the computer.

I deleted more stuff, once I had 17gb free I tried to update again and it worked just fine. What tomfoolery.

You No Longer Can. Only the latest compatible iOS version will install.

Hey, idk about the other person, but I'm having the same issue. Iphone se 3rd gen, won't update. Keep getting the... 'unable to install update, an error occurred installing ios 17.6.1'

This iphone has 10gb free storage.

I have another iphone se 3rd gen, free storage 20gb+ that updated fine.

I have 1 iphone se 2nd gen, and that has 20gb+ free space, and update to 17.6.1 fine.

Seems like a storage issue? But wouldn't 10gb free space be sufficient?
