Problem with Safari / Xcode / Open with simulator

I have a problem with Xcode and Safari. I installed Xcode, then installed the iOS platform, and afterwards installed several iPhone simulators which I can open without any problem. The issue is that when I want to open a page from Safari with the simulator, I get the option to select it, but when I press it, nothing changes on the simulator screen - it continues to simulate the iPhone normally. Safari also mentions "no inspectable applications" on any page I have open. I tried reinstalling Xcode and deleting all the simulators and putting them back again, but the same issue persists.
