Icloud drive uploading icon won't go away
I use iCloud drive, and want all both of my desktop machines to have all copies of all of my files. (In other words, I don't want the files only to be in iCloud and just one machine or iCloud and just the other machine.) I have a top-level folder with hundreds of folders within it. When I hover over the sidebar item for iCloud Drive, there is a check mark and message that says that the last sync was an hour ago. However, there is a cloud icon next to that top-level folder, and when I hover over it, the text that pops up says "uploading." (Note that the icon is just a puffy cloud with no down arrow, no cross, and no exclamation point.) That icon has been there all morning. When I click on the folder, none of the folders and files within it have a cloud icon next to them. I have had a similar issue in the past: a second-level folder will have the cloud icon and the "uploading text," but none of the files within that folder have a cloud icon next to them. Please note that I have over 100 gigabytes of free space in iCloud, and I have "Optimize Mac Storage" off. Under iCloud drive, I have "sync this mac" on.
So here are my question: can I trust that even though there is the cloud icon next to the top level folder, all of my files have been uploaded to iCloud? Is there any way to make that cloud icon go away? Does this icon indicate that there some file deep in the folder hierarchy that isn't uploaded? If so, is there any way to find it? I imagine that the presence of the cloud icon is just a mistake; however, I am very careful about my file management, and the presence of this cloud icon is concerning.
Thanks in advance for the help.
