I purchased 2 used iPods at an estate sale. Both are linked to different accounts from each other. While trying to do a reset to mfr settings, i got the message that the previous owner needs to remove the device from their account. I have no idea who that would be, nor do I know if they are even alive. Like I said, it was an estate sale. What can I do now? I do have a digital receipt from the auction company if that helps.

It would probably have to be the original receipt from Apple.
Without being able to have the signed-in owner to remove the account information, and without the original receipt to get Apple to reset the device, they are useless to you. Get a refund or recycle them.

It would probably have to be the original receipt from Apple.
