Apple Wallet does not recognize Ohio ID Barcode

I’m trying to add my Ohio ID to Apple Wallet. My ID is Real ID compliant, is not expired, and my iPhone 13 had been updated to iOS 17.6. I can scan the front of my ID without issues, but when I attempt to scan the back of my ID I get an error that begins with “Back of ID not captured. No barcode detected.” I have tried different lighting, different backgrounds, and I even printed a scanned and blown up image of my ID in case it needed to be bigger. Nothing seems to work.

Try a forced restart of your iPhone and follow the instructions I’ve linked to below. It’s more than just turning it off and on again.

When I’ve had issues photographing ID’s it usually too low a light, so I go outside. I photograph the ID against a black background and on the shady side of my house. I try to avoid a shadow on the ID.
