Trying to unpair my watch from my iphone

Hi,

I got a new iphone recently, so I erased data and settings from my other iphone and watch to disconnect them, then I repaired the watch to my new iphone. For some reason, half of the apps werent downloading, so I tried to erase the data and settings again from the new iphone, however, the iphone is still connected to the watch, but the watch has disconnected from the iphone…?

Where am I to go from here?

You can erase the watch without the iPhone, which will disable the Activation Lock, so that you can pair it again to your new iPhone, after you restored your new iPhone or set it up again.

My intial plan was to just re-pair the watch and the phone but instead of restoring the data from my old phone onto the watch, i would just set it up manually to see if they made a difference. But now my watch is now saying “bring iphone closer to watch” and on the watch app on my phone, it’s still connected, so i can’t even repair it cause it’s still technically paired?? And i’ve tried the “erase apple watch content and settings” about 3 times and the only thing it’s doing is making that option go grey instead of orange so i can’t even click it plus it doesn’t anything 😭
