Not easier, but there is a difference. The port on the 6th generation is actual Thunderbolt 3, the port on the 4th generation is not. If the port on the Thunderbolt station expects a Thunderbolt signal the 4th gen won’t provide it. So the display is likely not going to work. On the 4th generation, you will need an adapter: USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - Apple and connect to the HDMI port on the monitor.
The monitor like the dock expects a Thunderbolt signal through the Thunderbolt port which the 4th generation iPad Pro does not provide.
