Not sure what you mean by "control file". Do you mean "driver"?
You should not need any driver. If it appears in Printers & Scanners, then its ready to be used.

What happens when you connect it exactly?
Does it not appear in System Settings ➜ Printers & Scanners?
It shows up, but I must choose a control file. If I choose software there is no Canon available
