Apple Pay + Applying Discount Codes

Apple needs to allow online shoppers to add discount codes and coupons when using Apple Pay to check out. It is unconscionable that there is no way to get a discount when checking out, especially since many sites do not permit online shoppers to use Apple Pay from the cart.

If I am incorrect, please can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to properly purchase Items with Apple Pay under these circumstances.
