How do I change my Apple ID password?

Someone got into my phone and changed my Apple ID password and now I need to get in to change it to my own password how can I do it? It also has theft protection turned on.

Note, that they can only change your Apple ID Password, if you have given them your current password. Since you have given control of your device to someone else, you will most likely be forced to prove the device is actually yours and will have to remove the Activation Lock that was created with the new Password if you are unable to reset it. First start by attempting to reset the Password using 1 of these 3 methods:

If you are unable to do that, then provide your purchase receipt from Apple or Authorized Apple seller to remove the Activation Lock.
