MacBook Air 2017 magsafe to usb cable.

I would love to be able to power my 2017 MacBook Air and my daughters 2020 MacBook Air via a Power Bank,

Most of the power banks we have, have either a USB port or Usb-c, sometimes both.

Is there a cable or some means whereby if you Mac is 'dying' when you are out, you can power it from a portable power charger?

Technically Yes.

A 2020 MacBook Air uses a USB-C cable to charge, so you can connect it directly to the USB-C port of an appropriately rated power bank.

The 2017 MacBook Air uses Magsafe 2 for charging, and while there are adapters to go from MagSafe 2 to USB-C it will not be easy to find a good quality one, but it is possible.

With respect to the 2017 MacBook Air, Apple sells several MagSafe 2 power adapters. The 45W one is the only one listed as being compatible with the 2017 MacBook Air. It sells for $79 USD in the US, or £79.00 in the UK.

I'm guessing that the "duckhead" included with the adapter may vary between the US and UK versions.

Thank You Phil, That is really helpful, especially as my daughter has lost the 'MagSafe' charger for her 2020 Mac,

I may buy that adaptor for myself though, if the import fees are not too high (am in uk),

I may just buy her the actual charger (as its lost somewhere after moving out iUni digs), I am not actually where she is - can you advise on which charger she would need?

Cheers Mate
