Apple Watch not turning on

I was wearing my series 2 Apple Watch while swimming and had it set to record my workout. When I went to pause my workout my Apple Watch completely shut off and won’t turn back on. I later placed it on the charger and now it overheats and is extremely hot to the touch while charging. How do I fix this?

If your Apple Watch wont turn on and wont charge, have you tried to force it to restart? Also, did you remember to turn on Water Lock before your swim?

Your Apple Watch Series 2 is no longer supported for software updates and it is likely the battery will be showing reduced performance and capacity, that could be it that it’s aged out.

You can take a visit to Apple Watch Service and Repair - Apple Support, though they may not support the old Series 2 Watch.

Although Water Lock should have been enabled, unfortunately water may have caused internal damage inside.

Based on your situation, I recommend service.
