Buying headphones for iPad, only the one device, do I need Apple W1?

To be honest, I'm a "Bose guy." I've have had many "over-the-ears" headphones, but I keep coming back to Bose.

However, everyone is different with different listening styles. I prefer either classical or jazz so hearing the artist finger slide on a string, for example, makes a difference and what one thing I use as a "standard" for me.

One thing to consider about the Beats Solo 3 is they're a bit outdated. There is now a Solo 4 available. Regardless, I have never had any Beats products, so I really can't offer you any advice, one way or the other.

What I suggest is check out the store policy for returns. Then try a pair that you have already researched to know which one may best meet your requirements. If they don't work out, regardless of the reason (sound quality, fit, etc.) return them. IMHO B&W are a class "higher" than any of the Beats, but you will have to decide that for yourself.
