Macbook makes single beep when shutting down

Sometimes when I shutdown my Mac it makes a single beep the same as the beep when you press a key that does nothing in an app (like pressing m multiple times while in the settings app). Is this beep normal? Also when it beeps the screen sort of flashes a darker brightness then turns off. I also only got the MacBook around a week ago so it is prob not a hardware issue. It seems to only happen after a long period of use.

I accidentally found out what the beep is and it is not the alert tone, the beep happens when I do an input right after I hit shut down, I found this out because I accidentally fell on the space bar when shutting down and it happened, so the beep seems to be the same beep as when an input does nothing in an app, and the flash is just the screen updating really fast if you moved ur mouse, thanks for your help!

You are performing something that is not allowed. You cannot use the spacebar when shutting down. So, that’s how the alert sound is coming into play.

"I think it is the alert tone as the flash is near the top right of the screen but why would an alert appear right before it finishes powering off?"

-------

Why the Alert Sound:

  1. Go Here: Change the alert sounds on Mac - Apple Support
  2. As it Reads: When you try to do something that isn’t allowed, or if your Mac needs your input or more information, an alert message appears on your screen and an alert sound plays. You can change the alert sound and set its volume.

Single-Out this User:

See what happens when you create different user. If you get the same error, then it is an issue with your entire Mac. If not, then it is an issue withy ou current user.

Try Disabling the Alert Tone:

This is a user interface issue. The only know way to disable the alert time is to bring the Alert Tone to 0

  1. Go Here: Change the Alert Sounds on Mac - Apple Support
  2. As the Site Reads: You can also have the screen flash when an alert appears.
