In most cases a defective battery will overheat the Apple Watch, caused either by the age of the battery or if water ingress damaged it.

Water damage can not be fixed, and the official Apple can offer to replace the watch for a service fee:

Thanks for the email . My watch is SE 40MM

i can't remember when I bought it and I can't get on John Lewis store at the moment to check

i would think it's about 3 years old
