Birthday Alerts in Calendar not working

For a year plus, birthday calendar alerts are not working. Why?

Calendar automatically setting alert when event created This year, my apple calendar is automatically adding an alert when I create an event. I swear it used to default as ‘none’ and you had to add the alert. I’ve tried unsyncing the calendar with iCloud and that worked for a minute but then it started happening again. Any suggestions?

Calendar not showing second alert option I've seen 'remedies' to this problem that say if your iPhone isn't showing the option for a second alert, you are using other than the iCloud calendar. I AM using the iCloud calendar on my phone and yet there is no option for a second alert. How do I fix this or is this standard now?

You can check the following things:

1)Open Calendars, make sure the Birthdays calendar is checked.

2)Open System Preferences(Settings if it is iOS) -> Notifications -> Calendar. Ensure that "Allow Notifications" is turned on and the alert style is set to Banners or Alerts.
