Backup Version 3.2

Hello,

Wanted to upgrade my current Backup 3 to Backup 3.2. Did so after reading the requirements which said the new upgrade works with mac os x 104.11. However, once I did upgrade, noticed in the instruction guide that it said works only with 10.5 or later. So, I removed the download disk mount, etc to the trash.

My questions is: why does the apple support say the new upgrade works with 10.4 yet after downloading says 10.5 with no mention of 10.4?

If I can use it, should I trash the new upgrade and redo again?

Any help most appreciative.
June

P.S. Is it ok to completely remove all old files from Backup and do a brand new backup?

Hi,

Yes, Backup 3.2 does work on 10.4.11. Apple has been notified of the discrepancy in the documentation, but they haven't corrected it yet.

Some users (on 10.4.11 and above) have reported they had to delete one or more Plans and backups done via 3.1.2, but most did not.

If you want to do that, it won't hurt anything.

It gets very little activity, but there is a Backup forum, hiding in the MobileMe section, at: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=956

Great! Sorry for the confusion in the docs; Apple has about a zillion of them, and now and then something like this seems to slip through.

You'll probably like the new version much better, especially the "recycling" feature.

It's covered in the Help, but here's a separate article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3991
