How do I avoid fake FaceTime calls on iPhone?

facetime has been VERY buggy for me recently, it connects to fake calls with the person (the other end doesn’t answer) and all you see is their bubble with their initial, when I try calling the join option is the only thing available and no one is on the other end, it’ll disconnect randomly and not let me call back, I’ve restarted my phone, updated my phone, and checked my wifi, none of those things are an issue, even went to the extent of clearing up some storage, how can I avoid this problem of the fake FaceTime calls
