I received a "500 error" message while adding additional Gmail accounts to my iPhone

I have a number of Gmail accounts and when I sent up my new iPhone all but two rendered successfully. For the two that haven’t, every time I put in the security code I receive a 500 error message. Has anyone run into this issue and if you did, were you able to correct it?

I found a solution, without updating.

first, go to https://myaccount.google.com/device-activity

& kick off all the logged-in sessions for the device you having issues with if it's iPhone or iPad etc kick them all off.

then try to sign in again by re-adding or re-authing.

if you still get 500 error, check back at device-acitivity if anything pops up, kick them off again & try login again on the device, it took me around 2-3 tries of kicking off & re-adding to the device before I got through.

also, try setting up a passkey if the password just doesn't want to work. I set it up on the account & no issues from there via the kick off method with passkey.

Yesterday while using my iphone 13 pro to send email via Mail app, from one of my gmail accounts I received an error message reading "Cannot Send Mail - The user name or password for xxxxxxx@gmail.com is incorrect. I've had this gmail address plugged into Mail app for years and not sure why it is suddenly acting up when all other gmail email addresses are currently working fine? Before deleting the gmail email account from iphone that I am having issues with, I was able to receive email but not send email this account from my iphone. When I deleted the gmail email account from iphone and when I tried to re-add it to Mail app, I received a Google 500 error, which included a message reading "There was an error. Please try again later. That's all we know." I read online that by updating iphone OS to 17.6.1, some others were able to add a gmail email app to their iphone Mail app. I tried that and was able to add re-add the gmail email to my iphone without the 500 error, but now I cannot send or receive email with this gmail email account, and receive an error message reading "Cannot Send Mail - The user name or password for xxxxxxx@gmail.com is incorrect.

No current issues with Mac Mail and this particular gmail email account.

Go to Gmail on a web browser. Enter you name and password. Google is now using Passkeys and if I am not mistaken it will ask you if you want to use it They are saved to the Keychain which will then update across devices so you can use them in Mail. I didn't document the process when it was happening a few months back.
