My 1st Gen iPad will not power on

No battery lasts forever. A failed battery may be causing other issues, especially if the failure mode includes swelling or leaking.

Given that an iPad 1 cannot be updated nor run the latest apps, I cannot recommend spending time or money trying to restore it.

The first generation iPad was released by Apple fourteen years ago.
