What is the best way to connect an optical audio cable to the iPhone XR Lightning connector? I haven't been able to find a single cable with a Lightning connector on one end and an optical audio connector on the other.

A Lightning to Digital Optical (Toslink) cable/adapter would be a rarity, even if it should exist.
A potential workaround would be something like the following. However, I have no way of verifying that this will work.
The issues will, of course, be two-fold:

it's unclear if you wish to use it for input or output but no matter what then a passive adaptor would never be able to change electrical audio signals into optical audio without active electronics and maybe external power.

Wanted to avoid chaining cables. I returned the DAC I was trying to connect which only had one USB input and ordered a different and supposedly better DAC with two, which should allow charging while using like my old DAC.
