Why won't my iPhone Alarm play the selected song?

I just got a new iphone 12 (ios 15.2.1) and cannot get it to play a song to wake me up with the alarm. Here are the steps I take to set up the alarm:

1) I go into the music app and add the song to my library

2) I go into the clock app and click on alarm

3) I set up a new alarm. For sound, I select "Pick a song", which takes me to my music library. I click on the song I want and hit the plus button on the song to add it to my library. I now see under sound on my alarm clock the title of the song and choose it.

4) When I look at the alarm, it says next to Sound the name of the song. I hit save. If I exit out of and go back into the alarm, it still says the sound is the name of the song.

5) When my alarm goes off, it does not play the son but plays the default sound.

Here are things I have tried:

1) Turn off and on phone

2) Delete all alarms and create new one

3) Remove and add back in song into my library

4) In settings and music I have "Sync Library" on, Dolby Atmos off (I saw another post where it said this might be the issue)

5) Ensured all apps are up to date

6) Tried to download a Tone as a sound for an alarm (that works) but song still does not

Any help would be appreciated. I can use tones, but I'd like to be able to use my songs. Thanks!
