macbook does not scan for duplicates in photos app

my photos are on icloud, my mac is on charger and connected with wlan,..

but if i ask to find duplicates in the photos app menue, nothing happens / even after restart

Missing 'Duplicates' option in Photos app on MacBook Pro I have a 2021 MacBook Pro running Sequoia 15.5. I know without doubt that I have duplicate photographs. Every search tells me that there's "Duplicates" in "Utilities" in the sidebar. There is not. I don't want to d/load yet another program to find my duplicates, nor do I want to spend 100s of hours searching for them manually. This is ridiculous. I'm not sure what you mean by " i ask to find duplicates in the photos app menue..." Photos scans through the pictures, and when it finds duplicate images it shows them in a view in the top section of the sidebar:

It can take several days to find duplicates, so you may have to be patient. If it finds no duplicate images, then there will be no Duplicates view available. Restarting doesn't initiate a new scan.
