Probably depends on your OS version... YMMV.
PS - if it doesn't work right, you can always select the icon in Get Info and type the Delete key to restore its original status.
There are two possibilities here, depending on what you really want:
a) Add a custom icon in Finder; or
b) Select a "poster frame" for your video
a) is a standard macOS technique, but won't work outside a mac.
b) can be done with Compressor.
FCP won't do it, and I've never heard of a third-party app or plug-in that will do it.
