Bad advice.

Never, ever insert a metallic object into the charging port - as you will almost certainly cause a cause a short-circuit and cause irreparable damage to both the charging port and the host device.

If it is necessary to dislodge any foreign material, you must only use a non-metallic probe - such as a plastic or wooden toothpick. This can be used to gently dislodge dust or fluff, being careful to avoid damage to the delicate electrical contacts within the connector.

Your iPad will either have a USB-C or Lightning connector - whereas your Power Adapter will have either a USB-C or USB Type-A connection. You will need the correct cable to connect your iPad the Power Adapter that you have:

USB-C to Lightning Cable

Lightning to USB Cable

USB-C to USB-C Charge Cable

If the charging cable won’t properly seat or easily fit into the charging port of the iPad, this might indicate that either dirt or lint is obstructing the plug, or the plug or charging socket have been damaged. A damaged charging cable must be replaced - whereas a damaged charging port must be repaired.

If the problem is due to a visible obstruction, you may be able to remove it yourself*. With good light, using a sharpened wooden matchstick or plastic toothpick, very gently try to dislodge a visible the obstruction from the socket. Be careful to avoid damaging the delicate electrical contacts within the socket. Note that a USB-C socket has an obvious "tongue" within the socket.

(*) Removal of an obstruction is often best entrusted to the technicians at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the appropriate tools and expertise are available:

Hello, so there could be a few reasons for this.

  1. The charging cable you are using is not the correct one.
  2. There is dust inside of the charging port, that makes the charging cable unable to connect to the required part inside the charging port, or enter the charging port at all.

Try getting a small needle and make sure that the charging port is clear and there is nothing like dust that is in there that should not be, if that does not work go to the apple store and explain the issue, they will help you.

Hope this helped.
