How do I find the owner of AirPods I found?

I found lost AirPods Pro 2nd gens a few months ago on vacation, and since I had lost mine, my family convinced me to take them. However, I feel guilty about technically stealing them, so I looked to see if I could find the original owner. It appears that it is still on their Apple ID but they did not put their device on Lost Mode. From what it looks like, I think they are still trying to track it, and by extension, me. What should I do to find the owner, if anything?

Only the owner can provide that information if they choose to do that. In most cases, they don't because it opens up to phishing scams. The owner can still track the AirPods, so they do know exactly where they are. You just need to place them in a location where they can find them.

Thanks for being honest, in the Find My app click on items, and Identity lost item. By doing this, you can learn more about the lost item and find out if the owner left any message.

If there is no information leading to the owner, I suggest turning it in to law enforcement, they can deal it from there.
