cannot delete "old firefox data"

imac Sonoma 14.5 M3 chip

I deleted the folder on the desktop then emptied the trash. The trash can shows full about 10 seconds later and "Old Firefox Data" is back in the deleted files.

That's what shows in the trash. I've rebooted to safe mode and emptied trash. I've run disk utility and emptied before and after. Running out of options here. Still shows in trash

I have never seen nor reason to, delete "browser data"....

Is there some third party app involved here(?)— sure sounds like it.

Maybe you can say more about the origins of your issue...

What I can say—

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

I updated firefox. It puts that folder on the desktop almost every time. It deletes cleanly almost every time. Been doing this for years (at least 15).

"old firefox data" is what it puts on the desktop. I don't know how much simpler I can get it

I have not seen this in 15 years of using Firefox as my main working browser. Never.

Nor I have I ever read a similar report in 15 years doing tech support here in the Apple Support Communities(?)

I would contact Firefox support— Mozilla Support for some insight to your issue.
