Apple Watch Ultra II and Carplay

I’ve seen other ask the same question and various folk respond by saying Apple Watch was never designed by Apple to connect to other devices, apart from iPhone.

Doesn’t it seem shortsighted to have a cellular Apple Watch that you can call text operate your car, yet you can’t connect it to make and receive calls or to navigate ?

it would be good for Apple to highlight the limited connectivity of Apple Watch and explain if it will extend the standalone capability of Apple Watch or maybe have a device that can act as a bridge.

i can play music to me headphones in standalone mode, so why can’t I play this over the car speakers.

The battery drain would be excessive, but that’s just a personal experience. I know how fast my battery drains when I listen to music on my Apple Watch when I’m on a workout with my OG Ultra. The bridge device you desire is an iPhone and an iPhone is basically required to for Apple Watch to function with full features and capabilities. It also has much greater battery capacity and many vehicles now come with built in charging mats.
