Quicken Canada version alternative for getting the proper Canadian ACB

So, I just found that the current Quicken Canada version cannot provide what I need to track the Canadian Adjusted Cost Basis (ACB) method. (I confirmed this with Quicken support). But, the Windows version does.

Hoping this community can help me out.

My questions are based on this:

    1. Is there a good alternative program to Quicken for Mac, that will do what I want (ACB)?
    2. Can I get Windows to work on my MacBook Air M2, to download the windows version of Quicken so I can get the info that I want (ACB)?

Any help out there would be great!

Once again... this is for a 'brokerage account', in which I need the Canadian Adjusted Cost Basis (ACB) method.

To run MS Windows on an Apple Silicon computer would require a Third Party VM Software like Parallels

Then, setup Parallel and install a Supported version of MS Windows for Apple Silicon M2 MBA

Thereafter, install the MS Windows version of Quicken for Windows

You may consider exploring the System Requirements for the VM Software Parallels including how much RAM maybe required and Disk Space to have this run to one's expectation

Remember, the macOS Operating System will be running at the same time as will the VM Software and then the MS Windows within the VM

Unless this M2 MBA has more than the Stock 8 GM Unified RAM and Stock 256 SSD GM SSD drive

The above may not be a good fit

Thank you for your reply.... Would UTM work? A friend of mine mentioned this.

Given there is a native version of Windows for Arm (and support), I would not choose to run Windows x86-64 and then Windows apps all using emulation. I’d let Windows for Arm itself running natively emulate a Windows x86-64 app on Arm, and not UTM emulating everything including emulating Windows x86-64.

If any other tax-related apps might do better? AlternativeTo Quicken

For alternatives allowing use of the PC app, you can rent a Windows box from Microsoft Azure or elsewhere, or can scrounge a cheap PC. Wine might work for the Quicken app itself, but that’s more complexity and more emulation when you probably just want to run the app.

Let Intuit know too, not that they’re seemingly in any rush to remediate this omission, given reports of ACB going back six or so years. (And apparently the Quicken ACB calculations can be problematic in the US, too.)

Thank you for the info. I really, really dislike having to use anything Windows on my Mac! I no longer use Excel, Word, or PPT... Mac all the way.

Thinking about another way around it....

    • Does anyone have a good Numbers/Excel spreadsheet for tracking the Canadian ACB method? (can convert excel to numbers)?

btw... I told Quicken about this and providing ACB method... told them that I felt ripped off with buying the Current Mac Quicken Classic version, which is no better than what I had (Q for Mac 2016). Been a long time user of Q but need this functionality more now.
