Final Cut Pro live video lagging

Fcp live video lagging

I have MacBook Pro 2019 Intel

I’m doing a recording my slideshow with a small window of me talking the audio is not matching my mouth movements.

The video is lagging … also after I’m done I have trouble stopping the recording — the x on top right not highlighted so clicking it does nothing .. also hit stop on my Control Strip doesn’t do anything …I have to wait a couple minutes

My slides don’t contain any movement or transitions … 18 slides without recording file about 200 mb after recording 1.3 GB … my taking about 30 min …

I’m using MacBook Pro. Built in cam on some slides other slides my iPhone 11 promax — which I changed setting from 4k to 1080p 30fps …Mac continuity app to connect Mac to iPhone

Lag is on both cameras

I have all other apps closed … on Mac …

I tried changing keynote from iCloud to external drive 2tb and also tried saving to my Mac hard drive - which has 179/256 available … all this ways iCloud , HD, SSD external same lag and hard to stop recording

What’s causing this ? Thanks

Can you describe your workflow exactly? Are you trying to record live directly into FCP? Are you playing back the Keynote presentation at the same time? Where is the library stored?

FWIW, I would not use FCP for recording - it’s great for editing, of course, but I would either record with Quicktime Player, or do it all using Zoom: start a Zoom meeting, have it record the session, and “share screen” and playback the presentation.
