iPhone battery replacement or express replacement

I’ve got an iPhone with a battery capacity of 84%, but the battery life is quite terrible. It’s covered under AppleCare+ but I’m not sure if I’m better off just getting the express replacement instead of a battery repair. I understand that unless the capacity gets to 79% and under, it’s not free and costs the same as a replacement. Also wondering, when it gets to below 80%, will an express replacement be free as I’ve heard Apple charge differently based on the issue, or is that only for iPad and other devices?

Thanks in advance

iPhone SE, iOS 17

We are other end users, not Apple, so can cannot say what Apple will do in special cases. We only know what has been published. That is, if the battery in a DEVICE STILL UNDER WARRANTY falls under 80% health at less than 1000 cycles, Apple MAY elect to replace the battery at no cost to the owner.
