ApplePay Not Working In Messenger

For two days, I have been trying to send money to my son using the Messenger app on my Apple 13 Plus. It looks like it is processing the payment but then stops. I get an error message and read that they will fix it asap. It is not fixed and it is urgent that I send money to my son now. Why can I not send money using the Messenger app? I have more than sufficient funds. Is anyone else having this problem? Thank you.
