unable to access iTunes library from iPhone XS using home sharing

Hi, I am attempting to access my iTunes library on my PC (Windows 10 Build 19045.4651) through my iPhone XS (IOS17.6.1). The library is showing up in Apple music on my phone when I select home sharing but when I tap on the library to access it, it thinks about it (spinning red circle) then stops. If I tap on the library again, it thinks about it for longer but does nothing (apart from spinning red circle)!

I've turned home sharing on and off on both the PC and phone, uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes on the PC, uninstalled and reinstalled Apple Music on the phone, deleted the iTunes folder on my PC and reloaded my library, turned off the firewall to see if that was blocking it, logged out of my phone and back in, all to no avail.

I'm at my wits end now as I'd like to listen to my music library out in the garden on the odd non raining day we have but have been unable to do it. any ideas?
