No text box in group chat, leave chat is greyed out

I am unable to reply to a group chat there’s not even a message box, or leave it or mute it. I’ve updated my phone, reset my messages and keyboards. I’ve turned off then back on my iMessage, I’ve deleted the group then waited for someone to message in it and nothing has worked. Seems like a pretty big bug that’s been here a while from the posts I’ve seen.

iMessage group chat missing reply text box Hello, I have an iMessage group chat on my iPad that is missing the reply text bar. The same group chat on my iPhone still works normally. Any message I receive still comes through to both my iPad and iPhone. I just can’t respond from my iPad. If I try to it creates a new group chat. I’ve tried turning iMessage off then on again on my iPad, this hasn’t restored the input bar. I don’t want to delete the group chat as I don’t want to lose previous messages and images. I’ve turned my iPad off then on; it’s running the latest iOS18. This problem existed in iOS 17 also. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sudden inability to reply to group chat on iPhone only We Have a family group chat that has been in place for well over a year. Yesterday, I found I could not respond in the chat - the ‘+’ sign at the bottom wasn’t there. I can see all incoming messages, and I can reply on my laptop. Nothing changed that I’m aware of. Very odd - and all in the group are on iPhones and they can all work the group fine. I have rebooted and tried quitting iMessage, etc. No joy! Any ideas?

Unable to Text in Group Chat I’m in a group chat with 3 other people, but no text box appears for me so I’m unable to reply. All my other group chats, including chats with these same people, are normal and allow me to text and react but this one specific chat won’t let me. I’ve upgraded my phone, signed out of messenger, deleted and recreated contacts, turned on and off cellular data. Nothing seems to be working.
