On iPad, I can’t view videos sent to me in Messages app after a day or two

On my iPad running the latest iPadOS 17.5.1, any idea why I can no longer view two separate videos that were sent to me yesterday in the Messages app? I see only this box rather than the video. When I tap the ‘download’ icon on the right, the box darkens but nothing gets downloaded. I have another iPad also running the latest iPadOS and those videos display fine, as they do on my iPhone SE3.

Having written this, I wonder if it could be related to my iPad storage getting low. It’s a 64 MB iPad and I see I’m using 60.24 MB.
