I recently turned on the 80% charging limit and I charged my phone last night and woke up to my phone on 93%. Why is this happening and what can I do to fix this and prevent it from happening again as I want to save my battery?

If you go to the apple support article you can see this message in the fine print.
”With 80% Limit enabled, your iPad will occasionally charge to 100 percent to maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates."

I don't have that feature on my iPhone so I can only speak from my prior knowledge on batteries.... Has this feature ever worked? Have you ever woke up to it at 80%?
If so, you know the feature does work, and my only assumption would be that the software is smart enough to know it should be full charged every once in a while. While it is good for the battery to limit it to 80% if you don't need a full charge everyday, a full charge every couple weeks is good for it for calibration purposes and other things of that nature.
