I purchased IPhone 12 mini I like to get my information from my dead phone onto my new one , what is the no brainer easy way to do this . I do have an I pad

If you backed up your 6S to iCloud, you can retore from that. There is no way to get data from a dead phone directly.

If you were synchronizing things to iCloud, then you can get them back on the new iPhone by synchronizing the same things to iCloud under the same Apple ID.
E.g., if you were using iCloud Photos on the dead iPhone 6s, any photos that it had a chance to store on Apple's servers will be there, and will synchronize to the iPhone 12 mini if you hook it up to iCloud Photos.
You can back up your iPad to iCloud and get your info of of your iPad using the setup asistent or if you backed up your iPhone you can use the backup
