My iPhone 10 gets unbearably hot if I use certain apps

Whenever I play this one game, Mob Control, my phone always gets super hot. So hot the only way I can hold it is in its protective case. But then the case traps the heat in and makes the phone even hotter which leads to it lagging and randomly clicking. I remember when Apple had to compensate several dozen customers because their iPhones had similar problems but I wasn’t able to get to an Apple Store for that. I still have it and I’m actually using it to type this right now (thankfully it doesn’t heat up on Safari). Does my iPhone fall under a faulty product policy? Assuming it does, can I be compensated with a new iPhone or at least a refund?

No. The iphone X was discontinued on Sept. 2018 so it's at least 6 years old. Unless you purchased an AppleCare + warranty and its still active, it's been out of warranty for 5 years.

You most likely need a new battery.

Batteries degrade over time with usage due to chemical aging, that's just how they work.

You can expect about a 1% drop per month with average use on an iPhone. This is an approximation, that is why it may be plus or minus a few percent on a month to month basis.

Apple recommends replacing it when it reaches 80%. To check your battery health, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health.
