Fastest cable for migrating data - Macbooks

Could someone please tell me what would be the fastest, compatible cable to use to migrate data from a 2017 macbook air intel i7 to 2024 macbook air m3?

"Fastest cable" would be Thunderbolt. To connect your two MBAs (2017 & 2024) to each other you will need the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter and a Thunderbolt 2 cable.

I'd suggest migrating via a current Time Machine, Carbon Copy, or SuperDuper! backup. Bring the backup up-to-date, transfer the drive to the new machine (may need a USB-C to USB adapter), and point Migration Assistant at the drive.
