How to record a 2nd Voiceover in FCP

In Final Cut Pro, I have successfully recorded a voiceover in one channel and it won't let me record a second. it tries to record in the same channel and as soon as it hit s a break in an audio clip it stops! Can I open a up a new audio channel to record in? I want a completely independent new voiceover.

There's only one channel. Not sure what you mean by another channel. It makes a mono clip of your voice over, you stop. Start again and it simply makes another audio clip of your voice over. After you're done recording, you can go to the Inspector and configure panning and channels. But the voice over tool should only record one channel in mono, so I'm not sure what you mean by different channels.

Now that I think about it, you're probably doing an Audition. In the Voice Over window, be sure "Create Audition From Takes" is deselected.

Otherwise, I'm not understanding what you're doing, or trying to do.
