So I tried opening Sim City 4 Delux Edition today after updating to 14.6.1. I got a pop up error stating “SimCity™4 Deluxe Edition” is damaged and can’t be opened. Delete “SimCity™4 Deluxe Edition” and download it again from the App Store."
First I opened the app store and found Sim City 4. It had the "Open" button so I tried opening the game from there but got the same error. I then moved the app to the trash (did NOT delete) and the app store switched the "Open" button to "$24.99". I own the game, I don't need to buy it again!
Things I tried:
- Restarting the mac.
- opening the game using it's exec file in it's package contents folders. See below for what that brought up! It makes no sense to me. I'm not good with code.
- In system settings/Privacy and Security/Security/ Allow applications downloaded from ... I checked the Anywhere button.
I also tried this from an older post but no luck either ... "XYZ Is Damaged and Can’t Be Opened. You … - Apple Community
Any ideas? I'm not buying it again. At least not through the app store. Also, don't tell me to buy a windows PC.
