Why does my MacBook Pro keep turning off WiFi?

WiFi turns itself off and won’t let me turn back on even after restarting the MacBook Pro-running sonoma14.5.

ran diagnostics-no help.

cannot even get it to recognize the network when I manually enter the credentials-even though the network is listed in previous networks.

no other devices are having this issue with my network.

how do I fix??

update: took it to Apple Store for technical support and it does appear to be a hardware issue and they will start by replacing the WiFi ‘vent’? (WiFi card and vent must combined-didn’t quite understand the ‘vent’ part.)

if that doesn’t fix, logic board is next?

This was not a refurbished machine when I bought it less than 8 months ago, so to have to fix it so soon is disappointing, but glad to know it wasn’t just operational error on my part I guess.

It sounds like your MacBook Pro might be having issues with its WiFi connection. There could be a few reasons for this:

  1. Software Glitch: Sometimes, a temporary glitch in the software can cause WiFi to turn off. Try restarting your MacBook or updating macOS to see if that helps.
  2. Network Settings: Check your network settings to make sure everything is configured correctly. You might need to remove the network from your list of saved networks and reconnect.
  3. Interference: Other electronic devices or physical obstructions might be interfering with your WiFi signal. Try moving closer to your router or changing the channel on your router’s settings.
  4. Hardware Issues: There could be a hardware problem with your MacBook’s WiFi card. If none of the above solutions work, it might be worth getting in touch with Apple Support or visiting an Apple Store to have it checked.

Hopefully, one of these suggestions helps fix the issue with your WiFi.

Manage network locations on Mac

" Remove a network location

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Network  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
  2. Click the Action pop-up menu  on the right, then choose Locations > Edit Locations.
  3. Select the location you want to remove, click the Remove button , then click Done."

Then, add the network back

Yep-I have a couple WiFi access options (main one and guest). As I was removing one of them, all the sudden my WiFi was connected to my network… So I was going through emails and then within a few minutes, my WIFI turned itself off again. I was able to turn back on, but even after deleting and manually trying to re-add my WiFi network, the computer can’t find the network-the same one I was just connected to a few minutes earlier?

is there some hardware or chip that can go bad in the laptop for detecting WiFi? I haven’t even had this laptop a year and I have barely used it.

I have a really old Mac Book from 2014 and it connects to the WiFi fine?
