Unable to approve contacts on family member iwatch with cellular

I had trouble with my child's iWatch, pending approval for contacts. I learned from this process how to correct this.

  1. You must have the family members iWatch present and charged, unlocked and without app restrictions.
  2. Using your device, go to Settings, Family, (choose family members name), Screen Time, Communication Limits. On this page, ensure that you have allowed Everyone under both "During Screen Time" and "During Down Time". This will be temporary to allow for the pop-up approval window to show up on their iWatch.
  3. Go back to communication limits, and toggle off Manage "family member name" Contacts, then toggle on, and watch for the approval notification on their iWatch. Once it appears, select approve.
  4. Add desired contacts.
  5. Update settings as desired regarding During Screen Time and Down Time communication limits.
