Answering a call with hearing aids - answer successful but can't hear caller on hearing aids

I have an iPhone 11 - no problems

Hearing aids are brand new (1 month usage) - RIC R Relate 4.0

I can make calls on my phone and hear the receiver perflectly, so this occurs only with receiving calls. I can answer on my phone, but they are muted, and I have to put the phone to my ear to hear them.

I know how to check Settings, Blue Tooth and see my L and R hearing aid to make sure they are both connected.

My audiologist has called me right in her office and observes the same thing.

There are no answers for this in the RIC R online manual and no number to call.

Obviously I CAN answer a call on the phone, but should be able to answer and hear caller on my h aids, right?

iPhone 11, iOS 17

Wondering if, when a call is received, you can choose to direct the call to the hearing aids.

see: Apple support's online article: While on a call on iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"When you’re on a phone call on iPhone, you can switch the audio to the speaker or a Bluetooth® device.

Adjust the audio during a call

To change the volume, press the volume buttons on the side of iPhone.

Or swipe down on the call banner, then do any of the following:

  • Mute: Tap the mute button.
  • Put the call on hold: Touch and hold the mute button.
  • Talk handsfree: Tap the audio button, then choose an audio destination."

Could not find the hearing aids in the List of Made for iPhone hearing devices - Apple Support although, seems it may be an "Advance" brand hearing aid ... the manufacturer or distributor's stores may offer help /support.

All the best :-)
