Why is it that I can’t update my iPad Air 2?

Will not let me upgrade with newer operating system some programs or apps won’t work.

Need to know what’s up

The iPad Air 2 from 2014 cannot update beyond iOS 15.8.3. It’s the most current version it supports.

It lacks the hardware, RAM and CPU to run anything newer.

Your iPad Air 2 can only update up to iPadOS 15.8.3, it cannot support iOS 16 due to hardware limitations.

Because it is no longer supported. That iPad first came out about 10 years ago if I’m not mistaken. You need a newer iPad that is still capable of running the newer ipadOS version
