Deleting photos on ipad7

I have an iPad 7 with 128gb. In order to recover storage space, I would like to transfer all of my photos and videos from the iPad to an external SSD. After transferring, would I be able to turn off iCloud sync for photos on my iPad and then delete the photos on my iPad without them also being deleted on my iPhone and Mac? If not, could I turn off iCloud sync on all of my devices and then delete the photos on my iPad? Then when I turn sync back on my iPhone and Mac, will the photos still be there? TIA.

When you disable iCloud Photos in iPad settings, your iPad will no longer synchronise its Photo Library with iCloud - and by extension, will not be synchronised with any other devices using iCloud Photos.

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > iCloud > [Apps Using iCloud] Photos > Sync this iPad - set to OFF

When set to OFF, any photos that you add to or delete from your iPad Photo Library are completely independent of iCloud - and will have absolutely no effect upon your other devices. Other devices can continue to synchronise with iCloud, or not, as determined by their individual settings.
