I have two HomePods. One HomePod in the living room, and a HomePod mini in the bedroom. For the last week, no matter what, no matter where, the HomePod in the bedroom answers to "Hey Siri". The HomePod in the living room does the light up on the top, but never answers. I have turned it off and on, no change. Plays music no problem.
So annoying.
Realized that if I said "Hey Siri" the bedroom responded. But if I said "Siri" the living room responded. Looking at the Home App it was saying all the software was up-to-date, but the Mini was on 16.x and the HomePod in the living room was on 17.6.
A software and unplug reset of the Mini would not get it to update. So I did a reset via my Mac, it came up to 17.6, and is now working properly.

What happens if you first press and hold the living room HomePod and say turn on Siri.

Not really. The issue is with two HomePods. When am next to one, the other one (in the next room) responds the vast majority of the time. The one I am next does light up in response (and very occasionally will answer)
