Locked notes on ipad

My last post was not very clear. Here is some clarification and a work around I have found.

My iPad Air 2 is an oldish unit and has the latest software v15.8.3. for this model.

When I lock a note on my Macbook Pro running Sonoma 14.6.1 it cannot be unlocked on the iPad.

I get a prompt to update the software to the latest version. I am running the latest software, so no advantage here.

A work around I have found is to lock the note on my iPad, it then can be easily unlocked when needed and it can also be unlocked on the Macbook Pro.
